Kokuyo @ Orgatec Tokyo

CLIENT: Kokuyo | 📍 Tokyo, Japan

Context: ORGATEC has been the leading office furniture trade show in Germany since 1953. This year, the show opened in Tokyo for the first time to resounding success. Thematically titled “The Rise of Hybrid Work,” ORGATEC TOKYO’s inaugural 3-day convention attracted 22,000 visitors and featured over 80 international exhibitors.

Gensler Tokyo partnered with top Japanese office supply brand Kokuyo to design and exhibit a brand-new line of lightweight, easily-moveable furniture as an expansion of their popular Any chair.

Creative Direction: In a post-pandemic world, we need office spaces that are multifunctional and flexible to constantly adapt to new ways of working. The thin profile, uplifting colors, and 360-degree rotating casters of the Any series make for a versatile furniture solution to ANY user, place, time, and situation. To showcase the physical features and imaginative possibilities of Any furniture at ORGATEC, we created an amusement park-inspired space that integrated the furniture into a roller coaster, merry-go-round, go-cart zone, and balloon ride.
