Honeyland Festival
IMG + LIVENATION | 📍 SUGAR LAND, TEXAS
Context: For two days in November, the inaugural Honeyland Festival highlighted the best of Black eats, sips, and beats. Honeyland was headlined by Chef Marcus Samuelson, Uncle Nearest CEO Fawn Weaver, and Grammy award-winning Black music artists such as Miguel and Mary J Blige. Over 10,000 foodies and Houstonians across multiple generations gathered for a weekend to try a Trill burger, bop to beats of the African diaspora, and get exclusive food demos and talks from Black chefs and beverage makers.
Design Direction: Four color combinations, striped shapes inspired by African textiles, and honey drips set by the marketing team defined the visual branding of the festival. I was responsible for the design of all scenic and décor elements at the festival including the entrance arch, hero moments, stages, and themed zones. Live green walls were added for a fresh, herbal-inspired backdrop; and painted palette furniture, flags, and banners added pops of color throughout. The goal was to set the festival in a tone that was bright, bold, welcoming, and authentic to the culture.
